Today, I am going to teach you how to prettify your iphone / ipad / itouch without jailbreaking it.
We can do it using an app called COCOPPA. You can change your icons, wallpaper and the best part is that it is FREE!
Can you just imagine personalizing it to your desired eye candy colors/ theme?
My Ipad mini is absolutely pink because of Cocoppa.
I suggest you keep a theme or color in mind of all the icons you will be having.
Just like I did. Isn't pink very obvious here?
*Though Snapeee is a bit off because this is the original icon of the app.
If you also noticed, the Camera, Photos and Music are in their original icons.
That is because we cannot change icons for the default applications.
"WHY DO YOU HAVE AN EIFFEL TOWER ICON FOR SAFARI THEN??"
I'll tell you about that later. ☺
Now, download Cocoppa from the App Store.
It looks like this! And then we're off to personalizing!! ☺
First thing you have to understand is that COCOPPA's icons are, in reality, just shortcuts of the original applications. Do not delete the original app. I repeat..
DO NOT DELETE THE ORIGINAL APP!
I have to emphasize this cause you might end up deleting all your apps and hating me. So before we proceed, you must understand that this is JUST A SHORTCUT of the original app. Place the original apps in a folder to sort of hide them.
And now, we can finally proceed..
When you open Cocoppa, you'll get to their homepage where you choose whether you want to download Icons, Wallpapers or Stamps.
Icons
You can opt to choose your icon from the hot, popular, new etc. Your choice!
But when you're trying to get an icon for an app that is not really that popular, chances are you'll have to search for it in the search box at the very bottom of the page.
I searched for "facebook" as an example.
I always check the popular page cause you can never go wrong with them.
This time, I'll choose this cute Youtube Icon.
After that, click "set up link"
You'll get to this page where you'll choose whether this shortcut is for an
application, phone call (speed dial), email (speed email to a pre-assigned recipient),
message (speed message to a pre-assigned number), or
URL (**this is how I got the eiffel tower to be the icon for Safari)
Click App Search!
Click on the application you want to link the icon to.
*You can also search for the application just in case it's not in the top list.
Add gloss (or not), check if the icon name is correct (or change it to your preferred name), and the hit OK.
Of course you click "Yes"! ☺
You will be redirected to Safari...
Click "Add to Homescreen"
Last minute checking of the icon and the icon's name.
Then hit "Add" ♥
Voila! It's now in your homescreen! ☺
FAQ:
Do I have to do this individually to each application?
♥ Yes, I'm afraid you have to do it ONE by ONE.
What are the applications that does not allow change of icon?
♥ These are the Calender, Contacts, iTunes, App Store, Game Center, etc. It's basically the applications that go with it when you first bought it. And for some new applications, you might not find an icon for that since it's new. So maybe nobody made an icon for it yet.
Can you elaborate on how you did the safari icon? Isn't that a default application?
♥ YES. Safari is a default application. What I did is I searched for "Eiffel Tower". When I already chose an icon, I set it up as a link to a URL. And the URL is Google. So basically, Safari is being activated but I am automatically directed to Google page instead of having a blank page, which usually comes when you open Safari. Remember we can change the icon's name to whatever name we want so instead of having "Google" I named it "Safari".
Wallpapers
I know having icons can be a bit tedious but no pain, no gain right?
It is actually easier to download wallpapers.
Same with icons, you can choose from a variety of labels: hot, new, or even search.
Popular page offers the best, though.
Choose a wallpaper.
Click "Save to Camera Roll"
D O N E !
Easy, right? ☺
You're welcome!
So, let me know what happens with your little experiment on your iphone / ipad.
Comment or better yet send me a picture of your prettified screen at thejjoyce@gmail.com
