HONG KONG DAY 1
One of my goals last year was to have a vacation with my family in Hong Kong and last November. 🙏🙏
Our flight was early in the morning. Here's our kids pretending to be asleep but they are just to excited to fly that sleeping is not an option. We arrived at Hong Kong at around 7:30am.
The weather was a bit chilly compared to the Philippines so as soon as we arrived, we knew we were in a different country! Yaaay!
It was our first time to travel abroad and we were so ecstatic! The difference was very apparent. Weather, facilities and public transportation!
Upon arriving in HK, we rode the shuttle from the plane to the airport facility itself. The people in the airport are very polio. Everyone keeps greeting us. We ate at Mc Donald's at the airport. Yes, because it is familiar.
After breakfast, we went and took the MTR to the city. It costs $100 HKD. :( But the trip was very swift. The trains in HK were very fast (escalators too!)
As a first-timer, I got confused of how their MTR works. So we got lost a little bit. Got off at Prince Edward (near our house in HK) but walked to oblivion and ended up taking the cab to take us to our place. Hahah! It was so frustrating that time but funny when I think about it now.
Our itinerary for the first day is to spend it at Ocean Park. But our "nap before we go to Ocean Park" stretched til the evening. I woke up at around 5:30 in the afternoon feeling sorry that our first day was wasted. :( So we decided to eat dinner and think where we will go next. We ate at Coral Restaurant, a few steps away from Nathan Road. Roasted ducks are super delicious in HK! I got really hooked that we ended up eating it everyday for the rest of our stay there.
Anyway, we decided that in order for our first day to not go to waste, we can go to The Peak. But since it would be a long walk to go to back to our house and get sweaters and jackets, we never bothered. We took the MTR going to central. After asking a lot of people, we found the bus that would take us to The Peak. It was so fun! No traffic jams, the driver was driving too fast, and we were heading upwards in what feels like a zigzag road to the sky.
When we arrived at the Peak, we were shocked! We expected it to be cold up there but it was not just cold, it was FREEZING and the wind was blowing wildly on us! It was a challenge to be still for the camera. Our kids were also shivering from the cold. We dare not climb the highest peak cause the line was really long and we were already freezing. Day one was not wasted! We were able to see the city lights of Hong Kong! Felt so good to be up there. :)
